Give feedback

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. provide a link or email address to contact support when you are logged in.

To contact support, you have to logout, then find contact-us, then fill in all your details again (email, name etc). This is crazy, there should be a way to contact support from being logged in which uses your logged in details.

  2. Paste images from clipboard into issues

Right now you can add image attachment to issues. That involves taking a screenshot, opening an image editor, pasting, saving a file, naming it, switching to the issue, adding the attachment and finding the file. The new flow would improve to: screenshot, switch to issue, paste. As for feasibilty, many other issue trackers (assembla, fogbuzz) and Web apps (gmail, slack) have this functionality.

  3. Slack notifications for new code review

Slack notifications work well, but code reviews don't generate events. This is the event we are most interested in seeing in slack and currently we have to copy/paste the link manually.

  5. The markdown link from README to another file does not work.

This is not a new idea just a bug.

When I have a README.md file in a branch named "feature/XY" the link to another file like CHANGE_LOG.md does not work as expected. The generated link in README.md file looks like something like:

    .../tree/feature/CHANGE_LOG.md

and when I view the CHANGE_LOG.md file from the repository browser the functional link looks somehitng like this:

    .../tree/feature/update_readme?path=CHANGE_LOG.md

  6. Add watchers to issues

Presently a users can add/remove themselves to the list of watchers.

It would be good if followers (watchers) can be added to issues by others as well.

  7. Allow filtering with DN from LDAP.

Some tools require this as they have been coded badly.

  8. Protected branches for SVN

    http://blog.deveo.com/protected-branches-in-devo-2-9-0/

Protected branches were implemented for GIT 2 years ago, why it still
    hasnt been implemented for SVN?

Am actually quite suprised how can this be missed from the list of features. All your SVN competitors like Assembla, Сloudforge, Beanstalkapp, XP-dev, SourceRepo have protected branches or access levels.
And it would take only few days to implement cause svn has built-in access control.

Am asking cause thats the only features that holds us from migration to Deveo.

    Kind Regards.

  9. Download repository as zip

It would be nice to be able to download a (git) repository as a zip file. I know I can clone and then remove the .git stuff, but it would just be more convenient.

    Thanks for a great service!

  10. Ability to serve sphinx generated docs.

All of our projects have sphinx generated docs with plain html in the build folder. It would be really nice if that build folder could be served as HTML, this way we don't need to host the docs elsewhere.

  11. Download/Upload Repository

It would be great if entire repositories could be downloaded and uploaded (obviously this is for svn and not git). This would allow existing repositories to be easily moved to deveo without loosing history and would allow backups (something that's been a requirement for any hosts for at least one company I work with).

I understand it may be expensive to do this immediately on demand, but could be a scheduled task pushing or pulling from ftp, amazon s3, dropbox, etc.

Download could be a scheduled (weekly, daily) tasks or triggered to run once. Uploads only make sense if you…

  12. Allow enabling an svn hook to enforce non-empty commit messages.

One does not simply commit without a word (or two).

  13. Expose webhook for issue tracker events

It'd be great to have a webhook for change events in the issue tracker, e.g., on issue create, on state change. We've got repository commits generating announcements into a Slack channel, so the same capability on the issue tracker side seems like a natural next step. Thanks!

  14. Integration with Discord (Similar to Slack)

Discord Integration would be a nice addition. My team uses it in lieu or slack as its free, provides api access, and both textual and voice communication means.

  15. Scheduled backup to AWS from Deveo Hosted Instance

It would be added assurance for your customers if they can backup their repositories their own way. My prior Git host has a feature for scheduled repository backup to AWS S3 and with support to IAM.

  16. Allow company admin bots to modify projects

Currently company admin bots cannot really modify project metadata. In my usecase I would like to have a webhook service registered as a company hook. The service would have company admin bot credentials, and when it received project creation events, it would register itself as a project webhook. Then it would do the same thing for repos in the project. This would enable a setup where projects would be automatically set up for complex CI integration via the service, while an administrator would only have to configure one thing: the original company hook.

  17. Email notification when wiki page is edited

Devs can request an email notification when a wiki page is edited.
We use the wiki for things like build instructions. If those instructions change, there's way of knowing other than sending an email to all developers. It would be better if a developer could subscribe to changes to wiki pages.

  18. Create branch for issue button

It would be very useful if I developers can create branch from an issue in web ui (and automatically links it with the issue).

  19. Create incoming hooks from UI

I want to be able to create incoming hooks to e.g. prevent wrong tags to be pushed into the repository or creating wrongly named feature branches.

  20. Create custom security groups.

As DevOps, I'd like to be able to create new permission groups e.g. (Guest, Master, Administrator, Developer, MY_DEVELOPER_GROUP) and set my custom permissions for it.
    e.g.
    Like preset groups here
    https://app.deveo.com/docs/user/projects/
I'd like to see my custom group.

It would solve problem that we want to let developers create/destroy repositories, however they wouldn't be able to commit to protected branches and/or avoid code reviews if we made them admins (as was suggested).
